It all started on an ordinary street in Cagayan de Oro back in 2005. Nica met Mikku through a common friend. He took her hand and said, “Hi, nice meeting you,” in a way that made the moment stick. Mikku remembers it clearly too. A car passed by, he saw her, and something about her stood out.
They reconnected years later thanks to Friendster. When they finally met up again in Cebu, something unexpected happened. Mikku offered to help Nica cross the street, held her hand like a gentleman and just didn’t let go. She didn’t mind. That small moment said a lot.
Their first date was simple: coffee at Starbucks in Ayala Mall. A line from that day still makes them smile. “Can I borrow a light?” It was casual, playful, and a glimpse into how easy it was to talk to each other.
Falling in love wasn’t marked by fireworks or a big moment. It grew quietly, naturally. They say, “You never realize how important someone is until they’re gone.” That’s how they knew.
One of their favorite chapters was in 2008, full of memories that still make them smile today. Looking back, Nica says she loved their conversations and how Mikku could always make her laugh. For Mikku, it was how he could just be himself around her, no need to pretend.
Of course, life brought its challenges too. They’ve had their share, but they got through them by choosing each other again and again. What held them together was love, respect, loyalty, honesty, and trust.
The proposal wasn’t fancy, but it was unforgettable. After Nica gave birth to their son Ene, Mikku sat beside her hospital bed, pulled out a ring, and asked, “Will you complete me?” No big speech, no crowd just love in its most genuine form.
Now their world revolves around their little family. Between work, parenting, and the everyday busyness of life, they treasure quiet moments the most. Talking after a long day, laughing at small mishaps, and spending time with their kids, Kyra and Ene, are what truly matter.
Their kids are a huge part of their story. Kyra brings her own light into their lives, and Ene has a way of making even ordinary days special. Being parents has made their bond even stronger.
When Nica and Mikku think about songs or movies that reflect their story, two things come to mind. During a time they were apart, Nica found herself watching Grey’s Anatomy, and the character Karev reminded her of Mikku. For Mikku, it’s The Notebook. That kind of love the kind that keeps coming back is something they both understand.
If there’s one thing people should know about their story, it’s this: “We were each other’s TOTGA,” they laugh. The one that got away. But life had other plans and gave them a second chance.
Looking ahead, their dream is simple but meaningful: to raise a happy, healthy, and loving family. With Kyra and Ene by their side, they know they’re already on the right path.
Nica puts it beautifully: “I always imagined us but in a different lifetime. Life has its surprises. I feel so blessed to have you and our little family. I love you, so much, kaayo.”
Mikku’s message? “You’re stuck with me. And I love it.

At Tickle Tree, we believe the magic of a wedding lies in the real, raw emotions shared. Nica and Mikku's recent vow exchange was a perfect symphony of tears, laughter, and promises that truly captured their unique bond.
Nica began by describing her "unexplainable, but real" soul connection with Mikku. She found in him a partner, lover, friend, and a safe place where she could be her "ugliest and most vulnerable." With tears in her eyes, she thanked him for loving her "even when I'm being extra," and for being a devoted family man. She promised to be his biggest fan, cheering him on from "up front," and to make him laugh when he's "taking life too seriously or overthinking." Nica sweetly added, "I promise to never stop annoying you like when I lose my attention in just 5 minutes when you are at the zone." Her vow was clear: "I chose you in 2008, I choose you today, and I will continue choosing you forever. You are my person, my love, my life, today and always."
Mikku, fighting back his own emotions, brought laughter with his opening lines. He promised to be Nica's biggest fan, "even if you keep pronouncing GSIS as GISIS" and for "even making new car parts like pambelt." He vowed to cherish their deep conversations and to "try to not roll my eyes every time you remind me that you have a big crush on Bruno Mars." Mikku’s commitment to joy was evident as he promised to be "goofy, corny, and everything and anything just to make you laugh during the bad." He concluded, "Today, I take you as my partner in all things, the silly and the serious. Together, I know we can tackle anything life throws our way."
Their vows were a beautiful reflection of a love that is genuine, resilient, and full of joy. We were honored to capture every precious moment as they cemented their forever. Congratulations, Nica and Mikku!
